TOK®-PLAST
Cold applied bituminous, polymer-modified sealant conforming to Merkblatt M SNAR (Merkblatt für Schichtenverbund, Nähte, Anschlüsse und Randausbildung von Verkehrsflächen aus Asphalt" - data sheet for layer bond, seams, joints and edging of asphalt traffic surfaces) for the pretreatment of seams in surface layers in asphalt road construction. TOK® Plast is applied manually or mechanically in a layer of predetermined thickness using the PLASTOMAT® machines, thus guaranteeing even, full surface coating.
Description
TOK®-Plast is a solvent-containing, thixotrope, synthetic fiber reinforced compound on a polymer-improved road construction bitumen base. Tested in accordance with TL bit Fug 82 and ZTV Fug-StB 01 (Zusätzliche Technische Vertragsbedingungen und Richtlinien für Fugen in Verkehrsflächen - German Additional Technical Contractual Conditions and Directives for Joints in Traffic Surfaces).
Appropriate filler materials give the product a viscous consistency, which leads to a high degree of resistance to wet immediately after application to the joint edge.
TOK®-Plast is a cold applied coating compound for the joining of asphalt surfaces in accordance with the "Merkblatt für Schichtenverbund, Nähte, Anschlüsse und Randausbildung von Verkehrsflächen aus Asphalt" M SNAR (data sheet for layer bond, seams, joints and edging of asphalt traffic surfaces) of the FGSV (Forschungsgesellschaft für Straßen- und Verkehrswesen, Society for Road and Traffic Research).
Use
Seams are contact areas formed when widths of asphalt mixtures with comparable qualities are laid one beside the other forming longitudinal seams or one after the other to form transverse seams (M SNAR). The appropriately prepared seam edge (see M SNAR, Paragraph 4.2.2) is coated with TOK®-Plast to a thickness of approx. 2 mm. For longitudinal seams - the most common form - this process is carried out mechanically using the PLASTOMAT®. For transverse seams and other similar applications, which could also relate to other asphalt layers, a brush or similar is used for application. Thanks to its excellent bonding qualities, TOK®-Plast ensures a high-quality, durable seam.
Storage
If stored in cool and dry conditions in the closed original container, TOK®-Plast can be stored for at least one year.
