TOK® DUR
Two-component synthetic coating compound used to level out minor uneven areas in asphalt surfaces. Extremely adhesive, abrasion resistant and weather resistant.
Uses
TOK® DUR is used to create durable, abrasion and weather resistant coatings to fill fine cracks or level out small uneven areas in asphalt surfaces. A primer is needed on concrete surfaces.
Delivery and packaging
TOK® DUR is supplied in 7 kg containers; the color is gray. The gloss level of the material is "silk matte." Other colors and container sizes are available on request. A proportionate amount of the hardening agent is supplied in powder form.
Storage
The material can be stored in dry conditions in closed containers at 0 to 20°C for at least 6 months..
Special advantages:
• Easy to apply
• Durable and abrasion resistant
Material qualities
TOK® DUR is a special two-component product containing a reactive acrylic resin as a binder. TOK® DUR has the following distinguishing qualities:
• high elasticity
• low shrinkage stress
• quick-drying, good adhesion
• durable, good resistance to weather
• good resistance to water and gritting salt
Guidelines for application
1. Preparing the underlying surface
The underlying surface must be clean and dry; any film of oil that might be present must be removed. Asphalt surfaces with sealing are not suitable for coating with TOK® DUR.
2. Application
The material must be thoroughly mixed before use; the powdered hardener must be stirred in homogeneously in a ratio of (by mass) 1.0 - 0.7 : 100. The material is ready for use and must not be diluted. It can be applied using a flat or toothed spatula. If the coating is to be more than 5 mm thick, TOK® DUR can be filled with quartz sand of a particle size between 0.3 mm and 1.5 mm, up to a proportion of 50 %. The thickness of application should not exceed 20 mm; if it is to be thicker than 5 mm, work must be carried out in two stages. Immediately after application, the area must be sanded with colored quartz sand, blast furnace slag or similar materials of a particle size between 0.3 mm and 1.5 mm. Excess material can be reused. Depending on temperature, curing time will be approx. 1 hour. Application equipment should be cleaned immediately after work has finished using ethyl acetate or a similar chemical.
